Make a slip knot on the hook
Hold the yarn with your non-dominant hand
Yarn over the hook from back to front
Pull the yarn through the loop on the hook
Repeat yarn over and pull through to make each chain stitch
Keep the stitches even and not too tight
Count the chain stitches as you go
Stop when you reach the desired chain length
