How To Stop A Bleeding Tooth After Extraction?

Bite firmly on clean gauze placed over the extraction site for 30–60 minutes

Replace the gauze and repeat if bleeding continues

Use a damp black tea bag instead of gauze and bite down for 30 minutes

Keep your head elevated

Rest and avoid physical activity

Do not rinse, spit, or use a straw for the first 24 hours

Do not smoke or vape

Avoid hot drinks, alcohol, and hard or crunchy foods

Apply a cold pack to the outside of the cheek for 10–15 minutes at a time

Take only medications approved by your dentist or doctor

If bleeding does not slow after 2–3 hours, contact your dentist

Seek urgent care if bleeding is heavy, you feel faint, or the bleeding will not stop
