Move away from the heat source
Cool the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes
Remove rings, watches, or tight clothing
Do not use ice
Do not apply butter, oils, toothpaste, or creams
Cover the burn with a clean, non-stick dressing or cling film
Keep the burned area elevated if possible
Take over-the-counter pain relief if needed and safe for you
Do not pop blisters
Seek urgent medical help for severe, large, deep, or facial burns
Call emergency services if the burn is causing breathing trouble or is from electricity or chemicals
