How To Stop A Nose Bleed?

Sit upright and lean forward slightly

Spit out any blood that collects in your mouth

Pinch the soft part of your nose (just below the nasal bone) firmly

Hold continuous pressure for 10–15 minutes without releasing

Breathe through your mouth during the hold

After 10–15 minutes, release and check if bleeding has stopped

If bleeding continues, repeat pinching for another 10–15 minutes

Apply a cold pack to the bridge of the nose or cheeks

Avoid blowing your nose, picking your nose, or inserting anything into your nose

Avoid heavy lifting, straining, and vigorous activity for 24 hours after stopping

If bleeding doesn’t stop after 20–30 minutes of direct pressure, seek urgent medical care

Seek urgent medical care immediately if bleeding is heavy, you feel faint, you have trouble breathing, or blood is flowing rapidly into the throat

Seek urgent medical care if you take blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder
