Check for a low-battery chirp pattern
Replace the alarm if it is expired

Reconnect the alarm to power
Check for loose wiring
Replace the backup battery in hardwired units
Silence the alarm using the hush button
Contact building maintenance or the fire alarm company
Call emergency services if there is smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide suspicion
