Bend your knees and lower your center of gravity
Keep your weight slightly forward, not on your heels
Use the heel brake if your skates have one

Practice the heel brake at slow speed first
Use the T-stop by placing one skate behind you at a right angle
Drag the back wheels lightly to slow down
Keep the dragging skate stable and controlled
Use the plow stop by turning both toes inward
Push outward with your heels to create friction
Use the parallel stop by turning both skates sideways
Lean slightly into the stop while keeping balance
Roll onto grass, a curb, or another safe surface if needed
Practice stopping in an open, flat area
Wear protective gear while learning
Avoid sudden movements that can throw you off balance
