Go to a basement or storm cellar if available

If in a mobile home, leave immediately and go to a sturdy shelter
If outside with no shelter, lie flat in a low ditch and cover your head
If in a car and shelter is nearby, get to the shelter
If driving and no shelter is available, do not stay in the car; seek a low area and protect your head
Listen to weather alerts and warnings
Keep a battery-powered radio or phone charged for updates
Stay in your shelter until the all-clear is given
Avoid downed power lines and damaged buildings after the tornado
Check for injuries and give first aid if needed
