Rinse the stain immediately with cold water
Blot gently with a clean cloth or paper towel
Apply liquid laundry detergent or dish soap directly to the stain
Gently rub the fabric against itself or with a soft brush
Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes
Rinse again with cold water
Repeat if needed before drying
Soak the garment in cold water for 30 minutes to several hours for older stains
Use hydrogen peroxide only on white or colorfast fabrics
Test any cleaner on a hidden area first
Wash the item in cold water after the stain is treated
Air dry and check that the stain is gone before using heat
Repeat treatment if any stain remains
Avoid hot water and machine drying until the stain is fully removed
