Clean the piercing area with saline solution
Gently twist the earring if it moves easily
Hold the front of the earring steady
Unscrew or release the backing, depending on the type of jewelry
Pull the backing off carefully
Slide the earring out slowly
If it feels stuck, do not force it
Apply gentle pressure with clean gauze if there is minor bleeding
Clean the area again after removal
