How to Tell if a Cat Is Dehydrated?

Check for sticky or dry gums

Gently lift the skin at the back of the neck; if it does not spring back quickly, dehydration may be present

Look for sunken eyes

Notice reduced energy or weakness

Watch for decreased appetite

Observe less frequent urination or very concentrated urine

Check for panting or rapid breathing

Feel for a dry nose or mouth

Monitor for constipation

Seek veterinary care if dehydration is suspected
