Darkened skin in body folds or patches of thicker skin (sometimes)
Frequent yeast infections (especially in women)
Erectile dysfunction (sometimes)
Symptoms of very high blood sugar (nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing, fruity breath, confusion)
Symptoms of very low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, fast heartbeat, dizziness, confusion, irritability, hunger)
Repeated elevated glucose readings on home testing (if you monitor)
Abnormal lab results such as:
Hemoglobin A1c ≥ 6.5%
Fasting plasma glucose ≥ 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L)
2-hour plasma glucose ≥ 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L) during an oral glucose tolerance test
Random plasma glucose ≥ 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L) with symptoms
Seek urgent care if you have severe symptoms of high or low blood sugar, dehydration, confusion, or trouble breathing
