Look at the femoral pores on the underside of the thighs
Males usually have larger, more noticeable femoral pores
Females usually have smaller, less prominent femoral pores
Observe the head shape
Males often have broader, larger heads
Females often have smaller, narrower heads
Compare body size and build
Males are often larger and more robust
Females are often smaller and more slender
Watch for behavior during breeding season
Males may bob their heads more and show territorial behavior
Use a flashlight to “candling” the tail base in good light
Gently lift the tail to inspect the underside
Confirm with a reptile veterinarian if uncertain
Sexing is most reliable in mature dragons
