Measure the door opening and select the correct pocket door frame and door slab size
Remove the existing wall covering and framing in the installation area
Check for electrical wiring, plumbing, and other obstructions inside the wall
Install the pocket door frame according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Secure the header, track, and side studs to the rough opening
Ensure the frame is plumb, level, and square
Install the split studs and pocket hardware
Hang the door slab on the rollers or hangers
Adjust the rollers so the door slides smoothly
Install the door guides at the floor
Add the jambs, trim, and casing around the opening
Install the pull handles and latch hardware
Test the door for smooth operation and proper alignment
Patch and finish the wall surfaces as needed
Paint or stain the trim and door to match the room
