You cannot reliably test yourself for PID at home
Check for symptoms such as pelvic or lower abdominal pain, unusual vaginal discharge, pain during sex, fever, painful urination, or irregular bleeding
Take a home pregnancy test if pregnancy is possible
Avoid sex until you are evaluated
Do not douche or use vaginal products before testing
Schedule an urgent visit with a doctor, gynecologist, sexual health clinic, or urgent care
Ask for a pelvic exam
Ask for STI testing, including chlamydia and gonorrhea
Ask for a urine test and vaginal or cervical swabs
Ask about blood tests if recommended
Seek emergency care if you have severe pain, high fever, vomiting, fainting, or signs of pregnancy with pain or bleeding
