Drink plenty of water
Urinate often and do not hold urine
Use a heating pad on the lower abdomen
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and spicy foods
Take over-the-counter pain relief if safe for you
Rest and monitor your symptoms
Avoid sex until symptoms improve
Wipe front to back after using the bathroom
Wear loose, breathable underwear
Seek medical care if symptoms last more than 1 to 2 days, worsen, or include fever, back pain, vomiting, blood in urine, or pregnancy
