Take the dog to a veterinarian for diagnosis and treatment
Follow the prescribed antibiotic course exactly as directed
Give all medications on schedule, even if symptoms improve
Provide plenty of fresh water at all times
Encourage frequent bathroom breaks
Keep the dog’s urinary area clean and dry
Feed the veterinarian-recommended diet if advised
Monitor for blood in urine, straining, frequent urination, or accidents
Return to the veterinarian for follow-up testing if recommended
Seek urgent veterinary care if the dog cannot urinate, seems very painful, or becomes lethargic
Do not give human medications unless specifically instructed by a veterinarian
