See a healthcare provider or clinic for TB testing
Choose one of the standard tests:
Tuberculin skin test (TST or Mantoux test)
Interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA blood test)
For a skin test:
A small amount of TB protein is injected under the skin
Return in 48 to 72 hours to have the site checked
For a blood test:
A blood sample is drawn and sent to a lab
If the test is positive:
Get a chest X-ray
Provide a sputum sample if requested
Follow up with a healthcare provider for further evaluation
If you have symptoms or recent exposure:
Get tested as soon as possible
Follow local public health guidance if advised
Ask your provider which test is best for you
