Open the Messages app
Tap your profile icon or the three-dot menu
Go to Messages settings
Tap RCS chats or Chat features
Turn off Enable RCS chats
If prompted, confirm the change
On iPhone, go to Settings
Tap Messages
Turn off iMessage
If you are switching from iPhone to Android, deregister iMessage from Apple’s website
Restart your phone if RCS still appears active
