Craft a hopper using 5 iron ingots and 1 chest
Place the hopper by aiming at the block where you want it to connect
Use the hopper to move items from containers or the ground into itself
Put items into the top of the hopper to transfer them into the connected container
Connect the hopper to a chest, furnace, dropper, or other container by placing it facing into that block
Use a hopper minecart to collect items from above while moving on rails
Lock the hopper with redstone to stop item transfer
