Soak the whetstone if required by the manufacturer
Place the stone on a stable, non-slip surface
Identify the blade angle you want to maintain
Hold the knife at a consistent angle against the stone
Start with the coarse side if the edge is dull or damaged
Draw the blade across the stone from heel to tip
Use even pressure on both sides of the blade
Repeat the same number of strokes on each side
Keep the stone wet with water or honing oil as required
Switch to the finer side to refine the edge
Continue until the edge feels sharp and even
Rinse and dry the blade after sharpening
Clean the whetstone and let it dry properly
