Vacuum the carpet thoroughly before cleaning
Fill the clean water tank with hot tap water
Add the recommended amount of Bissell cleaning formula
Secure the tank back onto the machine
Plug in the carpet cleaner
Turn the machine on
Press the spray trigger while slowly pushing the cleaner forward
Release the trigger and slowly pull the cleaner back over the same area
Repeat over the entire carpet in overlapping passes
Empty the dirty water tank when it gets full
Refill the clean water tank as needed
Allow the carpet to dry completely before walking on it
Clean the tanks, brushes, and nozzles after use
