Check the care label first
Turn the sweater inside out
Fill a basin with cool or lukewarm water
Add a small amount of wool-safe detergent
Submerge the sweater gently
Soak for 5 to 10 minutes
Swirl lightly without rubbing or twisting
Drain the soapy water
Refill the basin with clean cool water
Rinse gently until detergent is removed
Press out excess water without wringing
Roll the sweater in a clean towel to remove more moisture
Lay the sweater flat on a dry towel
Reshape it to its original size
Dry flat away from direct heat and sunlight
Avoid hanging the sweater while wet
Avoid machine washing unless the label says it is safe
