Turn off power at the breaker
Verify power is off with a tester
Run cable from power source to switch box
Run cable from switch box to light fixture
Connect ground wires together and to metal boxes if present
Connect incoming hot wire to one switch terminal
Connect switched hot wire to the other switch terminal
Connect neutral wires together in the fixture box
Connect fixture hot wire to the switched hot wire
Connect fixture neutral wire to the neutral bundle
Secure all wire connections with wire nuts
Fold wires neatly into the boxes
Mount the switch and fixture
Install cover plates and fixture parts
Restore power at the breaker
Test the switch and light
