Turn off power at the circuit breaker
Verify the outlet is de-energized with a tester
Gather the correct plug, screwdriver, and wire stripper
Remove the plug cover
Strip the outer cable jacket if needed
Strip a small amount of insulation from each conductor
Identify the live, neutral, and ground wires
Connect the live wire to the brass terminal
Connect the neutral wire to the silver terminal
Connect the ground wire to the green terminal
Tighten all terminal screws securely
Ensure no bare wire is exposed outside the terminals
Secure the cable clamp on the outer jacket
Reassemble the plug housing
Tighten the plug cover screws
Test the plug before use
