How To Work Out A GPA?

List the grade for each course and convert it to grade points using your school’s scale

Multiply each course’s grade points by the course credits (credit hours)

Add all the credit-weighted grade points together

Add all the course credits together

Divide total credit-weighted grade points by total credits

Use the resulting number as your GPA

If your school drops failing grades or uses a specific rule (e.g., only certain terms), apply that rule before totaling

If your school uses weighted GPA, use the weighting method (e.g., honors/AP/IB multipliers) before multiplying by credits

Record the GPA to the required decimal places (commonly 2 or 3)
