Trim the woody ends
Stand the spears upright in a jar or glass with 1 to 2 inches of water
Loosely cover the tops with a plastic bag
Store in the refrigerator
Change the water every 1 to 2 days
Wrap unwashed asparagus in a damp paper towel and place it in a perforated bag
Keep asparagus away from ethylene-producing fruits and vegetables
Use within 3 to 5 days for best freshness
Do not wash until ready to use
