Look for yellowing of the skin, especially the face, chest, and palms
Check the whites of the eyes for a yellow tint
Examine the inside of the mouth for yellow discoloration
Notice dark urine
Notice pale or clay-colored stools
Watch for itching
Watch for fatigue
Watch for nausea or vomiting
Check for abdominal pain, especially in the upper right side
Seek medical evaluation with a blood test for bilirubin
Seek medical evaluation if jaundice appears suddenly or worsens
Seek urgent care if jaundice occurs with fever, confusion, severe pain, or trouble breathing
