Tighten your pelvic floor muscles as if stopping urine midstream
Keep your thighs and buttocks relaxed
Avoid leaning forward or putting pressure on your bladder
Stay still and reduce sudden movements
Distract yourself with something else
Breathe slowly and evenly
Avoid caffeine and other diuretics if possible
Empty your bladder as soon as you can safely do so
Seek medical help if you have pain, burning, blood in urine, or trouble urinating
