Turn off the water supply
Flush the toilet to empty the tank and bowl
Disconnect the water supply line
Remove the toilet bolts
Lift the toilet off the flange
Stuff a rag in the drain opening
Scrape away old wax and debris
Remove any screws or fasteners holding the flange
Cut through caulk if needed
Break the flange free with a pry bar or chisel
Remove the old flange from the pipe
Clean the pipe opening and subfloor
Inspect the drain pipe for damage
Install the new flange or repair ring
