Put on rubber gloves
Remove excess water if the bowl is too full
Place the plunger over the drain opening to create a seal
Push down gently at first to release trapped air
Pump the plunger up and down firmly several times
Maintain the seal while plunging
Repeat the pumping motion until the water drains
Flush once to check if the clog is cleared
Repeat plunging if needed
Clean and disinfect the plunger and surrounding area afterward
