How to Replace AC Compressor?

Disconnect the negative battery cable

Recover the refrigerant with proper HVAC equipment

Remove the drive belt

Disconnect the electrical connector from the compressor

Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor

Cap or plug the open refrigerant lines immediately

Remove the compressor mounting bolts

Remove the old compressor

Drain the old compressor oil

Compare the new compressor with the old compressor

Add the correct type and amount of compressor oil to the new compressor

Install new O-rings or seals on the refrigerant line connections

Install the new compressor

Tighten the mounting bolts to specification

Reconnect the refrigerant lines

Reconnect the electrical connector

Reinstall the drive belt

Reconnect the negative battery cable

Evacuate the A/C system with a vacuum pump

Recharge the system with the correct refrigerant amount

Start the engine and check A/C operation

Check for leaks and abnormal noises
