Choose the indoor and outdoor unit locations
Verify electrical requirements and local code compliance
Gather tools, mounting hardware, refrigerant line set, drain line, and wiring
Turn off power at the breaker
Mount the indoor unit bracket on a stud or solid wall surface
Drill a hole through the wall for the line set, drain, and wiring
Install the wall sleeve or grommet in the opening
Run the refrigerant lines, drain hose, and electrical cable through the hole
Hang the indoor unit on the mounting bracket
Place the outdoor condenser on a level pad or wall bracket
Secure the outdoor unit in position
Connect the refrigerant lines to the indoor and outdoor units
Connect the electrical wiring according to the manufacturer’s diagram
Connect and route the condensate drain line with proper slope
Tighten all flare connections to specification
Evacuate the refrigerant lines with a vacuum pump
Check for leaks in all refrigerant connections
Open the service valves on the outdoor unit
Restore power to the system
Test cooling and heating modes
Verify airflow, drainage, and proper operation
