Wash the squash
Cut off the ends
Peel the squash if needed
Cut the squash in half
Remove the seeds
Slice or cube the squash
Heat a skillet or saucepan over medium heat
Add oil or butter
Add the squash to the pan
Season with salt and pepper
Stir occasionally
Add a splash of water if needed
Cover the pan to help it soften
Cook until tender
Remove from heat
Serve immediately
