Peel the butternut squash
Cut off the ends
Slice it in half lengthwise
Scoop out the seeds
Cut the squash into cubes or slices
Heat a skillet or saucepan over medium heat
Add a little oil or butter
Add the squash to the pan
Season with salt and any desired spices
Stir or turn the pieces occasionally
Add a small amount of water if needed
Cover the pan to help the squash soften
Cook until fork-tender
Remove from heat and serve
