Wash your hands
Clean and dry the toe
Check for an open wound, severe deformity, numbness, or blue skin
If any of those are present, seek urgent medical care
Place a small piece of gauze or cotton between the pinky toe and the next toe
Gently tape the pinky toe to the adjacent toe
Keep the tape snug, not tight
Leave the tip of the toe exposed so you can check circulation
Recheck for swelling, color change, numbness, or increasing pain
Change the wrap daily or if it gets wet or dirty
Wear a stiff-soled shoe or sandal
Rest, ice, elevate, and limit walking
Remove the wrap if the toe becomes cold, pale, or numb
Get medical evaluation if pain is severe, the toe looks crooked, or symptoms worsen
