Wash the cast iron pot with warm water and a small amount of mild soap
Scrub off any rust, residue, or old seasoning with a non-metal brush or fine steel wool if needed
Rinse thoroughly and dry completely with a towel
Place the pot on low heat for a few minutes to remove all moisture
Apply a very thin layer of cooking oil to the inside and outside
Wipe off all excess oil until the surface looks almost dry
Place the pot upside down in an oven preheated to 450°F to 500°F
Put foil or a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch drips
Bake for 1 hour
Turn off the oven and let the pot cool inside
Repeat the oiling and baking process 2 to 4 times for a stronger seasoning
Store the pot in a dry place after each use
Re-season periodically if food starts sticking or rust appears
