Park the vehicle on a level surface.
Turn off the engine.
Wait 5–10 minutes for the oil to settle.
Locate the engine oil dipstick (usually with a yellow/red handle).
Pull the dipstick out and wipe it with a clean cloth.
Reinsert the dipstick fully.
Pull the dipstick out again and check the oil level.
Verify the oil is between the MIN and MAX marks (or within the crosshatch area).
If low, remove the oil fill cap on the top of the engine.
Add the correct oil type in small amounts (about 0.1–0.25 qt/L at a time).
Recheck the dipstick after each addition until the level is correct.
If the oil is above MAX, do not drive; have it checked and corrected.
Reinstall the dipstick fully and secure the oil fill cap.
Check for leaks around the oil fill cap, drain area, and under the engine.
Reset the oil change reminder/service indicator if applicable (per owner’s manual).
