Place the beacon on top of a solid 3×3 pyramid base made of iron, gold, diamond, emerald, or netherite blocks
Make sure the beacon has an unobstructed view of the sky
Right-click the beacon on Java Edition or tap it on Bedrock Edition
Insert one of these items into the beacon interface: iron ingot, gold ingot, diamond, emerald, or netherite ingot
Select a primary power from the beacon menu
Confirm the selection by clicking the checkmark
If the pyramid is large enough, select a secondary power when available
Keep the beacon’s beam path clear above it at all times
