Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the power slider appears
Drag the slider to power off the iPod
If the iPod is frozen, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together until it restarts
After it restarts, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again and use the power slider to turn it off
On iPod touch models, use the on-screen power slider to shut down
On older iPod models without a touchscreen, switch the Hold switch to lock the controls when not in use
