Turn off power to the microwave at the circuit breaker
Unplug the microwave if the outlet is accessible
Remove the microwave’s top mounting screws from the cabinet above
Support the microwave from below with another person
Remove the bottom mounting bolts or screws
Lift the microwave off the wall bracket or mounting plate
Lower the microwave carefully and set it aside
Remove the wall mounting bracket if needed
Patch or cover any exposed holes if desired
