Identify the Mercedes key type
Slide the mechanical key out of the fob
Use the key or a small flat tool to open the battery compartment
Remove the old battery
Note the battery type and polarity
Insert the new battery with the correct polarity
Close the battery compartment
Reinsert the mechanical key
Test the key functions
Dispose of the old battery properly
