Mark the area and measure the layout
Remove grass, roots, rocks, and debris
Dig out the soil to the needed depth
Compact the dirt firmly
Add and level a layer of crushed gravel if needed
Add a thin layer of sand if desired for leveling
Set the pavers in the planned pattern
Tap each paver into place with a rubber mallet
Check level and alignment as you go
Fill gaps with sand or fine jointing material
Sweep off excess material
Compact the pavers again
Refill edges with soil or edging material to hold them in place
