Wash your hands thoroughly
Clean the area around the piercing
Hold the flat back steady with one hand
Grip the front stud with the other hand
Twist the front piece gently if it is threaded
Pull the front piece straight out if it is threadless
If the back is accessible, pinch and remove it carefully
Use a tissue or clean gauze for better grip
Do not force it if it feels stuck
Apply a warm compress if needed to loosen dried discharge
Stop if you feel pain, swelling, or resistance
Ask a professional piercer for help if you cannot remove it
