Make sure your Nintendo Switch model supports NFC amiibo scanning
Open the game you want to use amiibo with
Check that amiibo functionality is enabled in the game’s settings if required
Go to the point in the game where amiibo can be scanned
Place the amiibo on the right Joy-Con’s analog stick area
If using a Nintendo Switch Lite, place the amiibo on the right control stick area
If using a Nintendo Switch OLED or original Switch in handheld mode, place the amiibo on the right Joy-Con’s NFC touchpoint
If using the Pro Controller, place the amiibo on the Nintendo Switch logo in the center
Keep the amiibo in place until the scan is complete
Follow any on-screen prompts after the amiibo is recognized
Repeat the scan only if the game allows multiple uses or daily scans
Check the game’s amiibo support page if the scan does not work
