How to Brew a Stout?

Choose a stout style: dry stout, sweet stout, oatmeal stout, or imperial stout

Gather ingredients: pale malt, roasted barley, caramel malt, hops, yeast, and water

Mill the grains

Heat strike water to the target mash temperature

Mash the grains for 60 minutes

Sparge to collect the wort

Boil the wort for 60 minutes

Add hops according to the recipe

Add adjuncts if desired, such as oats, lactose, or coffee

Chill the wort after boiling

Transfer the wort to a fermenter

Aerate the wort

Pitch the yeast

Ferment at the recommended temperature

Allow fermentation to complete

Condition the beer until flavors mature

Package the beer in bottles, cans, or a keg

Carbonate the beer

Store the stout cool before serving
