Deal each player one card face down to a stock pile and five cards to a hand
Place the remaining cards face down as each player’s spit pile
Turn the top card of each spit pile face up to start the center piles
Play cards from your hand onto the center piles if the card is one rank higher or lower than the top card
You may play onto either center pile
After playing a card from your hand, immediately draw a new card from your stock pile if available
Keep playing as fast as possible until no more moves can be made
When you cannot play from your hand, both players say “spit” and flip the top card of their spit pile onto the center
Continue playing from the new center cards
If a stock pile runs out, use the remaining hand cards only
The round ends when one player uses all cards in hand and stock pile
The other player must stop and count remaining cards as points or losses, depending on the agreed rules
Start a new round by reshuffling and redealing
