Rinse the green beans under cold water
Trim off the stem ends
Fill a pot with 1 to 2 inches of water
Place a steamer basket in the pot
Bring the water to a boil
Add the green beans to the steamer basket
Cover the pot with a lid
Steam for 4 to 6 minutes until tender-crisp
Check for doneness with a fork
Remove the beans from the steamer
Season as desired
