Blot excess ink with a clean white cloth or paper towel; avoid rubbing
Check the care label for fabric-specific guidance
Place a clean towel or paper towels under the stained area to prevent spreading
Rinse the back of the fabric with cold water to push ink out (if allowed by the fabric label)
For washable fabrics, apply rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) to the stain using a cotton ball or white cloth
Dab from the outside of the stain toward the center until ink transfers
Rinse with cold water
Repeat alcohol application and rinsing as needed
For remaining color or dye transfer, apply a small amount of liquid laundry detergent directly to the stain
Work detergent in gently with fingers or a soft brush
Let sit 5–10 minutes
Wash in the hottest water safe for the fabric per care label
Check stain before drying; air-dry if any stain remains
If still visible, soak for 30–60 minutes in a solution of oxygen-based bleach (color-safe) and cool water, then wash again
For white cotton, use hydrogen peroxide on the stain (test first) then rinse and wash
For delicate or non-washable fabrics, blot with rubbing alcohol and consult a professional cleaner
For leather or suede, dab lightly with rubbing alcohol on a cloth; do not soak; let dry and seek professional help if needed
For dry-clean-only items, take to a cleaner and point out the ink stain
