Unplug the dryer or turn off the gas supply
Pull the dryer away from the wall
Disconnect the dryer vent duct from the dryer
Remove lint from the vent opening and duct connection
Use a vacuum with a hose attachment to clean loose lint
Insert a dryer vent brush into the duct and scrub the inside
Clean the vent pipe running to the exterior wall
Remove and clean the exterior vent cover
Clear lint and debris from the outside vent opening
Reattach the vent duct securely
Push the dryer back into place
Run the dryer on air fluff or low heat for a few minutes to check airflow
Clean the lint trap before and after each load
