Take the clothes outside immediately
Keep them away from heat, sparks, and flames
Blot any wet gasoline with paper towels or clean cloths
Rinse the affected area with cold water
Pre-soak the clothes in cold water with baking soda or white vinegar
Wash separately in the hottest water safe for the fabric
Use heavy-duty laundry detergent
Add one cup of white vinegar to the wash if safe for the fabric
Run an extra rinse cycle
Repeat washing if the smell remains
Air-dry the clothes completely
Do not use the dryer until the gasoline smell is gone
If the smell persists, soak again before rewashing
If the fabric is delicate or the odor is strong, use professional cleaning
